Laura Speed is an experimental psychologist working as an Assistant Professor in the Centre for Language Studies at Radboud University. She completed her PhD in Cognitive, Perceptual, and Brain Sciences at University College London.
Her work investigates the interaction between language and perception. She is currently focusing on the relationship between language and olfactory perception. One aspect of this work assesses how odor perception is influenced by contextual factors, such as verbal labels and descriptions. She also explores how odor language and cognition interact with other perceptual modalities to aid in meaning, for example, by investigating odor cognition in odour-color synaesthesia.
